Five Owls Named All-WSC

Five Citrus College men's soccer players picked up All-Western State Conference-South honors.

Jose Andres Ortega grabbed first team honors, while Lance Becker and Luis Chavez Esparza were named to the second team. Enrique Bedolla and Ezequiel Jimenez were named Honorable Mention.

Andres Ortega, a freshman midfielder, appeared in 15 games and had two goals on the year. He finished with six shots on goal for a .750 shots-on-goal percentage and scored the game-winner in a 2-0 win over Southwestern College.

Becker, a freshman defender, appeared in 18 games, starting all of them in the backline for Citrus. He still got into the attack and had one assist on the year in the Owls' victory over Southwestern.

Chavez Esparza, a freshman forward, started all 19 games for the Owls and finished the year with four goals. He boasted a .625 shots-on-goal percentage with 10 shots on target.

Bedolla, a sophomore forward, made 16 appearances for Citrus. He finished the year with a goal and an assist, including assisting on the game-winner in the Owls' 1-0 victory against Imperial Valley.

Jimenez, a sophomore goalkeeper, made 13 starts in between the posts for the Owls. He finished the year with 68 saves and a shutout in 1170 minutes of action.
