Owls Get Back to Scoring Ways

After being held scoreless on Tuesday, Citrus College came alive Friday afternoon and grabbed a 3-0 victory over Victor Valley College.

The Owls improve to 5-2-2 overall, while the Rams drop to 2-7-1.

Citrus came out fired up and found the back of the net in the 13^th minute. Isaac Ochoa drove in a cross, finding Sammy Ghandour at the back post, who fired off a shot from close range to put the Owls on the board.

The Owls struck again right before halftime after drawing a foul in Ram territory. Jose Alvarez-Novales sent a long ball down the left line, allowing Ghandour to one-touch it through traffic to Hector Guevara, who hammered it home for his first collegiate goal.

Victor Valley had a chance to cut the margin in half just seconds before halftime, but Guevara saved it off the line to keep his team in front 2-0 at the break.

In the 69^th minute, Eduardo Marquez put the game away off an Alan Lira assist.

Citrus looks to carry momentum as it heads to Santa Barbara College on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest.
