Citrus Grabs Second-Straight WSC Win

Citrus College outshot the College of the Canyons 18-to-6 en route to a 2-0 victory Friday afternoon.

The Owls improve to 7-3-3 on the year and remain undefeated in Western State Conference action at 2-0-0. The Cougars drop to 6-7-1 overall, 0-1-1 in conference with the loss.

After a scoreless first half, Citrus came out determined to find the back of the net in the second half and had two good looks in the first five minutes of the half.

In the 77th minute, Citrus drew a foul in the box and Isaac Ochoa stepped up to the spot and converted the penalty kick easily for his seventh goal of the year.

The Owls tacked on some insurance in the 84th minute as Jacob Derayal slotted home a goal through traffic to up the home team's lead to 2-0.

Christian Sanchez made two saves to preserve the shutout victory for Citrus.

The Owls head to Bakersfield College – which sits right behind Citrus on the WSC leaderboard – on Tuesday, kicking off at 4 p.m.
