Six Owls Grab All-WSC Honors

After grabbing the most wins in a season since 2016, Citrus College saw six Owls grab All-Western State Conference-South honors. Jose Alvarez-Novales and Alan Lira each earned first-team honors, Jacob Ponce and Hector Guevara picked up second-team recognition, and Sammy Ghandour and Isaac Ochoa were named honorable mention. 

Alvarez-Novales has been a staple in the Owls' backline and team captain. He has started all 20 games he appeared in and scored once and assisted once this year.

Lira transferred in and immediately became a role player, starting all 16 games he's appeared in. He finished with seven assists on the year, which set a program record this year for most assists in a single season.

Ponce finished his collegiate debut with six goals, two assists and 14 points on the year. He scored the game-winning goal in Citrus' 4-2 victory at Allan Hancock and started all 21 games for the Owls.

Guevara made 19 starts as a freshman midfielder, dishing out five assists (tied for third all-time in the Citrus record book) and scoring twice to finish the year with nine points.

Ghandour had an excellent collegiate debut and led the Owls with 11 goals, five goals and 27 points on the year. His 11 goals ranked third in conference and sit second all-time in the Citrus record book for most goals in a single season. He also sits second in the record book with 27 points in a single season and tied for third with five assists in a single season.

Ochoa scored nine goals in 18 games for the Owls, including three game-winners, which puts him tied for third in the Citrus record book for most goals in a single season. He also had two assists and finished with 20 points.
