Ventura, CA and Eagle Rock, CA (Men's Water Polo) -- The Citrus College Men's Water Polo team hit the road for a pair of contests on Wednesday afternoon and evening and came home with a pair of losses. The Owls took on Ventura College in a Western State Conference game in the afternoon before hitting up Occidental College on their way back home to Glendora.

The day started off rocky with Citrus dropping their second consecutive conference contest 13-4. The Owls were held to a single score in each of the four quarters, with sophomore Raul Castaneda putting in half of Citrus' scoring output. Sophomore Ryan Batchelor had a pair of steals and freshman goalie Emad Shalabi had a team high 13 saves.

Later in the day, the Owls got a better effort but still came up shy in a 17-16 loss at Oxy. Castaneda again led the offensive effort with seven goals. Batchelor poured in four and drew a team high three kickouts in the loss. Freshman Andy Perez would be the leader in goal for the Owls in the loss with seven blocks.
With the pair of losses, Citrus falls to 6-12 overall and 0-2 in WSC play. Citrus will have to wait to try and turn things around until next Wednesday when they host LA Valley College in another conference contest. The game is set for a 3:00 PM start time.
