San Luis Obispo, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Water Polo team won two more games on Saturday at the Cuesta College Tournament II. The Owls did so with style winning big in their first game, before finishing the weekend with a sudden death overtime win in game two.

The day started off with a contest against Ohlone College. The Owls outscored Ohlone 3-2 in the first quarter, but pulled away in the second with an 8-1 second quarter. Citrus continued to pour it on in the second half outscoring Ohlone 8-3 in the final 16 minutes of regulation for the 19-6 victory.

Freshman Charles Ortega had five goals and a pair of steals in the win. Fellow freshman Seth Adams and Patrick Phommachanh each added three scores as well, while sophomore Christian Deamer had three assists in the win.

After cruising in the first game, the Owls hand their handful in game two against Cabrillo College. The two teams traded goals in the first quarter, before the Owls took a one goal lead into the break up 5-4. In the third it was all Citrus as they took a seemingly commanding 9-5 advantage. In the fourth though, Cabrillo stormed back outscoring Citrus 5-1 and sending the game into overtime tied up at 10-10.

In the first overtime, each team scored twice, while the two teams were both held scoreless in the second overtime. That led to the sudden death overtime three, where freshman Kristopher Williams scored his one and only goal of the day to give Citrus a 13-12 victory.

Goals were spread pretty evenly among the Owls in the win. Ortega, Adams, Deamer, Phommachanh, and sophomore Robert "Austin" Sanchez all scored twice. Sanchez also added three assists.

With the two wins, Citrus' record improves to 13-10 overall. The Owls will be back on the road on Wednesday for a WSC contest at LA Valley College. The match is set for a 4:15 PM start.
