Valley Glen, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Water Polo team put together a great fourth quarter effort on Wednesday evening, but it was a little late for the Owls. Citrus just couldn't overcome a rough start, and ultimately fell to LA Valley College 11-8.

Citrus struggled to get their offense going on Wednesday scoring just three points in the first half, while the Monarchs took a 5-3 lead into the break. In the third, LA Valley seemed to pull away, going up 9-5, but the Owls made a late charge cutting the LA Valley advantage to just one midway through the fourth, before Valley pulled away in the closing minutes.

In the loss, Citrus was led by Sophomore Robert "Austin" Sanchez's team high four goals. Freshman Seth Adams notched four steals, while freshman Charles Ortega scored three times and added a pair of assists.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 13-11 overall and 1-3 in WSC play. The Owls will be off this weekend before taking part in their final regular season tournament next weekend at the Saddleback Tournament II. Stay tuned to the Citrus College Athletics Website for more details.
