Owls Bow Out In First Round of WSC Championships

Santa Monica, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Water Polo team had their 2013 season come to an unceremonious end over the weekend. The Owls bowed out of the 2013 WSC Championships in the first round to host Santa Monica College, with a 6-10 loss.

Santa Monica jumped on Citrus early, taking a 3-2 lead after the first quarter. The Corsairs extended their lead by one more in the second taking a 6-4 lead into the break. In the second half, Santa Monica continued to control the tempo of the game, scoring four goals, to Citrus' two as they fell by four.

Freshman Charles Ortega led the way with three goals. The Other three were matched by sophomore Robert "Austin" Sanchez. With the loss, Citrus' 2013 record ends at 16-13, their best in at least eight seasons.
