Lotero Named WSC Male Athlete of the Week

Glendora, CA -- Citrus College freshman men's water polo player Jonathan Lotero was named the Week #1 Western State Conference Male Athlete of the Week. Lotero earned the honors thanks to his play during the Citrus College Men's Water Polo Tournament.

Lotero helped lead the Owls to a perfect 4-0 record and 1st place finish at last weekend's Citrus College Men's Water Polo Tournament. Lotero opened the weekend up with four goals against San Diego Miramar College, before coming back later in the day and scoring four more against Mt. San Antonio College, and drawing a trio of exclusions. On day number two Lotero kept things rolling with three goals, four assists, and a pair of steals in Citrus' opening match-up with San Diego Mesa College. Lotero's most impressive performance though came in the Championship Game against Fullerton College, where he helped key a three goal deficit at the half, with five goals, three exclusions drawn, an assist, and a steal. Three of Lotero's five goals came in the third quarter, when Citrus turned a 2-5 deficit into a 7-5 lead.

Lotero prepped at Vista Murrieta High School before coming to Citrus and hails from Murrieta, CA. Lotero and the Owls will be playing just up the way at the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament over the coming weekend.
