Owls Move to 3-0 In Conference With Rout of Ventura

Ventura, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Water Polo team improved to a perfect 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon with a 23-5 rout at Ventura College. The win puts the Owls in a showdown with LA Valley College next Wednesday for the #1 seed headed into the Western State Conference Championship Tournament.

The Owls got contributions from all over the place on Wednesday. Freshman Robert Renteria led the way with his best game of the year, scoring a team high eight goals, while drawing a pair of ejections, and recording two steals. Sophomore Zachary Miller came off the bench and scored three times, while freshman starter Jonathan Lotero also scored three times. Freshman Matthew Gonzalez added four assists, while freshman William Martinez and sophomore Charles Ortega each handed out three more assists. In the cage freshman Drake Santos did what he does best, and stopped 15 of the 20 shots he faced on the day.

With the win, Citrus improves to 19-5 overall and most importantly that aforementioned 3-0 in WSC play. The Owls will wrap up the regular season on Wednesday when they host LA Valley College at 3:30 PM.
