Owls Fall in Regular Season Finale to LA Valley

Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Water Polo team fell in their regular season finale to visiting LA Valley College. It was Citrus' first loss in Western State Conference play, as the Monarchs prevailed in a tight one 16-15.

Citrus took an early lead on Valley, going up 5-2 in the first quarter. The Monarchs turned the tables on the Owls in the second quarter though, outscoring Citrus 6-2, to take an 8-7 lead into the break. Valley would increase their lead by one to start the second half with a 5-4 third period. Citrus crawled back in it in the fourth outscoring the Monarchs 4-3, but they couldn't get the tying goal late.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 19-6 overall and 3-1 in WSC play. The loss also puts the Owls as the #2 seed in the upcoming Western State Conference Championships that Citrus College will host. The Owls will take on #3 seeded Cuesta College in the opening round of the tournament at 1:00 PM on Friday.
