Lotero Leads Post-Season Awards With All-American Nod

Glendora, CA -- Citrus College freshman Jonathan Lotero capped off a fantastic freshman campaign recently by being named an All-American. Lotero is the 39th All-American in program history, and the first since 2002.

Lotero was one of five Owls to start all 24 games for Citrus this past season. Lotero led the Owls in goals scored (85), and was second in ejections drawn (39). Lotero also added 21 steals, and 16 assists, as he was also named to the 1st team All-SoCal team, and a 1st team All-Western State Conference selection.

Citrus College sophomore Charles Ortega was named a 2nd team All-SoCal selection and a 1st team All-WSC honoree. Ortega, who also started all 24 games, was second on the team in goals (65), and assists (31), while leading the team in steals (57). Ortega was also the team leader in shot percentage (.433).

Along with Ortega and Lotero, two other Owls were named a 1st team All-WSC selection. Freshmen Robert Renteria and Drake Santos were honored for their efforts in 2014. Renteria, a starter in all 24 contests, scored 33 goals, had 25 assists, and recorded 34 steals. Santos, who also started all 24 games, had 262 blocks, a .535 save percentage, 24 steals, and 16 assists.

Three more Owls in freshmen Mark Cordts, William Martinez, and sophomore Eugene Lee were named 2nd team All-WSC selections. Cordts scored 28 goals, handed out 23 assists, and recorded 20 steals in 22 appearances and starts. Martinez was the team leader in assists with 34, while adding 36 goals and 21 assists. Lee meanwhile ripped the cords 35 times, assisted on 11 goals, recorded 17 steals, and led the team in ejections drawn with 60.

Rounding out the superlatives were sophomores Seth Adams and Zachary Miller. Adams scored 19 goals, while adding 25 assists and 26 steals, while Miller scored nine goals, had 12 assists, and 16 steals on the year.
