La Verne, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Water Polo program travelled a few miles East on the 210 Freeway on Wednesday night, to take on NCAA DIII University of La Verne. The Owls and Leopards put on a good show, but ultimately, La Verne pulled away late with an 11-7 victory over Citrus.

La Verne came out of the gate strong, taking a three goal lead 4-1 after the first quarter. Citrus rallied in the second though scoring four goals to the Leopard' one to make it 5-5 headed into the break. The Owls would briefly take a lead in the third, but La Verne clamped down on Citrus' offense down the stretch, outscoring the Owls 6-2 in the final two quarters for the four point win.

In the loss, Citrus was led by a pair of Marks with freshman Mark Naranjo and sophomore Mark Cordts each scoring twice. Naranjo also had two assists, and a steal, while Cordts led the way with a team best three steals.
