Walnut, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Water Polo season continued on Friday afternoon with the first day of action in the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament. The Owls rolled on the day, defeating Chaffey College 22-4 in the morning before coming back later in the afternoon with a strong 13-8 victory over Orange Coast College.

The Owls wasted little time in jumping all over the Panthers scoring 10 goals in the opening quarter, while holding Chaffey scoreless. Citrus kept it going with a 7-1 second, before finally letting off the gas a little in the third as the Panthers outscored the Owls 3-2. It didn't last long though as Citrus closed out the game with a 3-0 fourth on their way to an 18 point win.

Freshman James Adams paced the Owl effort with a team high four goals. Sophomore Jonathan Lotero and freshman Daniel Velasquez each added three, as did freshman Joshua Durham.

The second game of the day was much more competitive, but once again the Owls prevailed. Citrus would again have a big opening frame, taking a 4-1 lead after the first. The Owls extended their lead into the break with a 3-2 second that made it 7-3. Orange Coast would make their move in the third with a 4-0 quarter that tied the match up at seven all headed into the fourth. Citrus came back with a vengeance in that final frame, outscoring the Pirates 6-1 en route to the five point win.

In the win, Lotero led all Owl scorers with four goals. Velasquez added three, while freshman Mark Naranjo had a team high four steals. Sophomore Brad Thomson finished everything up with 10 saves on 18 shot attempts.

With the two wins, Citrus improves to 7-2 on the season. The Owls will be back in action at Mt. SAC on Saturday where they will take on Southwestern College and Palomar College.
