San Diego, CA - The Citrus College Men's Water Polo team wrapped up a perfect weekend at the South of the Border Invitational with two more wins on Saturday afternoon. The Owls defeated Fullerton College 19-11 and then beat a tough San Diego State University Club team 16-10 in the weekend finale.

Against the Hornets the Owls opened up strong outscoring Fullerton 12-4 in the first 16 minutes of play. Citrus would keep the foot on the gas in the third with a 5-2 period, before the Hornets outscored Citrus 5-2 in a nearly meaningless fourth. Freshman Johnathan Wong scored four times in the win, while sophomore James Adams scored a match high six times. Adams also matched sophomore goalie Drake Santos for a team high three assists, with Santos also notching nine steals and 11 saves.

In the finale, Citrus continued to the early offensive outpouring outscoring the Aztecs 10-4 in the first 16 minutes of play. San Diego State would try to make a late charge in the fourth, closing the gap to five late, but the Owls ended the game with sophomore Joshua Durham icing the game with a goal with two seconds left for the six point victory.

Wong led all scorers with eight goals. Sophomore Kristopher Williams and James Cano each had four assists, while Santos had eight steals and 15 saves in three quarters worth of action.

With two more wins, Citrus' record improves to 11-5 overall. The Owls will be on the road on Wednesday afternoon when they open up Western State Conference play at Ventura College. The match is set for a 2:15 PM start.
