Fullerton, CA - The Citrus College Men's Water Polo team closed out it's non-conference schedule over the weekend when it took part in the Fullerton Mini-Tournament. The Owls swept the day defeating Grossmont 14-9 and Fullerton 15-12.

In the opening match-up with Grossmont, the Owls and Griffins played it close, with Citrus taking a 5-4 lead into the break. The Owls separated themselves by an extra goal in the third, before running away with things with a 6-3 fourth for the five point win. Sophomore Vincent Edwards pumped in four goals, while freshman Jonathan Wong added three.

In the finale, Citrus jumped out to an early 5-1 lead over the Hornets and held on for the victory. Fullerton would outscore Citrus 4-2 and 5-3 in the second and fourth quarters respectively, but the first period and a 5-2 third gave the Owls all they needed. Wong scored five more goals, while fellow sophomore James Adams matched his total. Sophomore goalie Drake Santos played only the first three quarters, but stopped 10 of the 17 shots he faced.

With the two wins, Citrus improves to 14-10 overall. The Owls will hit the road on Wednesday for a crucial WSC contest at Cuesta College. The game is set for a 3:30 PM start.
