Citrus College opened the new season at the North vs. South Tournament, hosted by Merced College, on Saturday. The Owls grabbed a 16-10 victory in the first game but fell 20-5 to West Valley and 15-7 to the host Blue Devils, putting the Owls at 1-2 to start the year.
Jullian Nichols led the Owls with 12 goals, seven assists, and 13 steals in the three games. Nathan Salcedo and Logan Haberle each followed with six goals, while Haberle added six assists. Jacob Cruz, Cristian Duran, and Rolan Solis also scored on the day.
Matteo Velasquez finished the day with 36 saves and grabbed eight steals, while also dishing out four assists.
Citrus heads to another tournament, taking on the Southwestern Labor Day Tournament next Friday and Saturday. The Owls face host Jaguars first at 10 a.m. on Friday.
