Citrus College had two games to open the Southwestern College Labor Day Tournament, taking on host Southwestern and Palomar College. The Jaguars picked up a 17-8 victory over the Owls, while the Comets grabbed a 16-12 win.
The Owls drop to 1-4 on the year heading into the second day of the tournament.
Jullian Nichols finished the day with a team-high seven goals, four assists and five steals. Logan Haberle and Nathan Salcedo each scored four goals, while Haberle dished out seven assists and Salcedo had two assists. Rolan Solis netted three goals and handed out three assists, while Jacob Cruz scored and had three assists. Gavin Tanner also scored on the day.
Matteo Velasquez finished with 11 saves and nine steals in the cage on the day.
Citrus takes on San Diego Miramar at 10:10 a.m. on Saturday and closes the tournament against Grossmont College at 1:40 p.m.
