Men's Water Polo Host Busy Saturday

The Citrus College Men's Water Polo team hosted Las Positas College, Grossmont College, Chaffey College, and Citrus College Alumni this past Saturday, September 28th at the Citrus College Mini Tournament. 

The Owls started their morning off at 8 a.m. against the visiting Las Positas College Hawks in a 16-13 win to improve their overall record to 9-2 on the season. Citrus College started the game off strong, scoring six goals in both the first and second quarters to go up 12-2 at halftime. The Hawks were able to find some success, but the Owls had already done enough damage to win the game behind five goals from both Killian Pressley and Liam Ross. Trace Faskell added three goals, three assists and three steals in the win. 

Game two of the day came against Grossmont College in which the Owls suffered a 15-12 loss which brought their record to 9-3 on the year. In a close game the Owls got five goals from Tommy Gibson and two goals from both Trace Faskell and Liam Ross. 

In the Owls' third game of the day, they faced off with the Chaffey College Panthers to pick up an 18-10 win, improving their record to 10-3 on the season. The Owls and Panthers went back and forth through the first two quarters before Citrus College pulled away in the 3rd quarter behind three goals from Trace Faskell in the quarter to earn the win. Liam Ross scored four goals with two assists, Trace Faskell scored four goals with two assists and two steals while Jake Linger added three goals, two assists and one steal. Goalies Brian Delama and George Mikhail recorded nine and five saves respectively in route to the win. 

The final game of the day was the Citrus College Men's Water Polo Alumni Game in which over 25 Citrus College alumni came to compete against the current Owls squad. In this friendly match the Owls got to play at their own speed after a long day of competition in the pool. 

In a busy, yet successful Saturday the Owls went 2-1 on the day and sit at 10-3 overall on the season. Citrus College's next game will be on the road against LA Valley College, this Wednesday, October 2nd at 3:30 p.m.
