The Citrus College Men's Water Polo team traveled north to San Luis Obispo for the Cuesta College Tournament this past weekend (October 18th & 19th) where they went 2-2, winning and losing a game each day.
The Owls started their four-game Cuesta College Tournament slate off on Friday afternoon against Rio Hondo earning a 16-5 win. Citrus got a balanced effort with eight players scoring goals, led by three goals each from Trace Faskell and Tommy Gibson. Killian Pressley, Adam Herald, Liam Ross, and Joseph Mikhail all scored two goals in the win over the Roadrunners. Aiden Herald led Citrus with five steals followed by three steals each from Tommy Gibson and Adeeb Lakkees. Brian Delama recorded 12 saves in goal, adding one assist while George Mikhail recorded five saves.
Game two of the day was an evening matchup against Saddleback College in which the Owls suffered a 22-9 defeat. The Owls kept the game close until Saddleback scored seven goals in both the second and third quarters to go ahead by 11 into the fourth quarter where Citrus only scored one goal. Trace Faskell led the way with three goals and three steals, while Liam Ross and Killian Pressley each added two goals.
Citrus College was back in the pool on Saturday afternoon as they took a 21-12 loss to Grossmont College. The Owls got goals from Trace Faskell and Adam Herald. Brian Delama recorded five saves and George Mikhail recorded four saves.
The Owls' last game of the Cuesta Tournament was a dominant 20-6 win over San Mateo. Citrus looked to put their previous two losses behind them as they came out firing with an eight-goal first quarter followed by 12 more goals scored in the game. Tommy Gibson scored six goals followed by Killian Pressley with four goals. Devon Dow and Liam Ross each added three goals. Goalies Brian Delama and George Mikhail recorded 11 and seven saves, respectively.
Overall Citrus College went 2-2 at the Cuesta College Tournament bringing their season record to 15-8 and 1-1 in conference games.
The Owls will host Cuesta College this Wednesday, October 24th at 2:30 p.m.
