Owls Rack Up Post-Season Awards

Glendora, CA -- Fresh off their second straight WSC Blue Division Championship, the Citrus College Softball team racked up the post-season awards over the weekend. The Owls were paced by freshman Anissa Gallegos being named the WSC Blue Pitcher of the Year and Head Coach Jackie Boxley claiming WSC Blue Division Coach of the Year honors. In addition, Gallegos along with sophomore Erinn Jaramillo and freshman Jessica Brown were each named California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CFCA) All-State selections.

The Owls went 30-9 during the 2015 CCCAA Regular season including an 18-3 mark in WSC Blue play. All of that was good enough to help Citrus head honcho Boxley earn her third overall WSC Blue Coach of the Year honor and second straight recognition.

Gallegos meanwhile became just the second 20 plus game winner for the Owls since the 2007 season, going 23-5 on the year. Gallegos finished 3rd in the entire State and second in the entire WSC in wins, posting a strong 2.20 ERA, while fanning 78 batters in 181.1 innings work of work. In addition, Gallegos also walked just 38 batters on the season, handing out .03 walks per inning in her time in the circle this season. She's the second straight WSC Blue Division Pitcher of the Year for the Owls, also earning 3CFCA All-State honors.

Jaramillo earned her second straight 1st team All-WSC Blue selection, and after being named an All-SoCal selection as a freshman, was an All-State selection in 2015. Jaramillo batted a team high .481 with a team best .541 on-base percentage, driving in 38 runs, and scoring 43. As currently constituted, she's first in Citrus history in career hits (117), second in career batting average (.451), first in career doubles (25), second in career RBIs (68) and first in career runs scored (84).

Brown slugged her way into the Citrus record books, after batting .421 with a .490 on-base percentage and .913 slugging percentage in 2015. Her 17 home runs as a freshman is second all-time in the Citrus record books and was second in the entire State in '15. Brown also drove in 51 RBI's (10th in the State, 4th in the WSC), and scored a team high 45 runs for the Owls on her way to earning 1st team All-WSC Blue and 3CFCA All-State honors.

In addition to the aforementioned three individuals above, sophomore Kiana "Kalei" Guillermo also earned 1st team All-WSC Blue honors. Guillermo had a huge sophomore season, batting .347 with a .407 on-base percentage. Guillermo scored 29 runs and drove in 19 more, leading the team with four stolen bases.

Earning 2nd team All-WSC Blue honors were freshmen Stephanie Noriega and Autumn Bartholomy. Noriega was thrust into the starting short-stop role for the Owls in the beginning of the season and thrived, hitting .423 with a .464 on-base percentage. Noriega scored 20 runs and drove in 20 more leading the team with six triples on the year, while helping turn five doubles plays in the middle of Citrus' defense.

Bartholomy meanwhile wielded an impressive bat with a .371 batting average, 17 runs scored, and 30 RBI's. Bartholomy also made 16 appearances in the circle for the Owls, going 4-2 with a 3.68 ERA.

Two other Owls rounded out the All-WSC Blue list for Citrus. Sophomores Megan Troutman and Valerie Velasquez were both All-WSC Blue Honorable Mention honorees. Troutman hit .333 with 28 RBI's and 26 runs scored, while Velasquez batted .357 with 24 RBI's and 27 runs scored.
