Glendora, CA - It took a while for their offense to get warmed up, but once they did, the Citrus College Softball team put together a late rally to defeat visiting East Los Angeles College 6-3. The Owls scored five of their six runs in the fifth and sixth innings to give them the win over the Huskies.

The Owls did draw first blood, scoring on an RBI single from freshman Jacquelyn Preciado in the bottom of the second that brought home freshman Vanessa Garcia to make it 1-0. East Los Angeles responded right away, scoring their three runs in the top of the third, to jump back out in front 3-1.

Citrus wouldn't have an answer until the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, Citrus scored three runs in unconventional ways, getting a RBI hit by pitch from freshman Jocelyn Alvarado, a RBI walk from Preciado, and a RBI sac fly foul-out by sophomore Karissa Martinez to give Citrus a 4-3 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, freshman Seanna Jimenez gave the Owls some breathing room with a 2-RBI bomb to center field.

Freshman Danielle Dominguez would pick up her eight win of the year. Dominguez pitched four solid innings of relief giving up just three hits, no walks, and striking out two batters as she improved to 8-1 on the year.

With the win, Citrus improves to 8-3 on the year. The Owls will have a tall task on Thursday when they host State #3 and SoCal #2 Cypress College in a double-header. First pitch in game one is set for 2:00 PM.
