Owls Drop One to San Bernardino

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Softball, dropped a tough one on Thursday afternoon, to a solid San Bernardino Valley College squad. Citrus mustered just five total hits, and couldn't get the offense rolling against a good team in their 5-2 set back. 

 San Bernardino got things going, scoring on an unearned run on a fielder's choice in the top of the first inning. The Owls would rally to tie the game up in the bottom of the second, on an unearned fielder's choice in the bottom of the second, when a ball struck by freshman Alyssa Roman allowed freshman Jocelyn Alvarado to cross home plate.

The Wolverines would go back in front in the top of the third on an RBI single, but the Owls tied things back up in the bottom of the third on an unearned run scored by sophomore Celine Spathias.

With the game hanging in the balance, San Bernardino used a 3-run seventh to surge back in front. A pinch-hit hit by pitch from sophomore Jade Nua would one out would give Citrus a runner on first, but the Owls didn't muster anything else before falling by three.

In the loss, sophomore Seanna Jimenez was the lone Owl to record more than one hit, going 2-for-3. Freshman Danielle Dominguez would post a worthy effort, scattering nine hits, and not walks over the course of seven innings. Giving up four earned runs, while striking out a pair for her fifth loss of the season.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 18-12 overall, Citrus resumes WSC East play on Tuesday afternoon with a double-header against Victor Valley College. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM in Game #1.
