Citrus Softball boarded a veritable freight train on Saturday March 9th in a double header road win over Cuesta College. Since that trip, the Owls have been steaming ahead, winning 9 of their last 10 games and extending the current winning streak to 6 games. The Owls have outscored their opponents 76-21 during the stretch of games beginning with Cuesta.

The most recent win on Friday at Citrus against Cerritos, ended up in a 6-1 victory for the surging Owls. Becky Winder pitched a complete game for the win, her 4th straight. Winder improves to 6-3 in 2019.

Giavanna Muenz and Katie Kempton both doubled, Kempton doing it twice. Muenz's drove in Melanie Barba for 1 of Barba's 2 runs of the game. Emily Paredez singled and drove in a run. But most noteworthy was Alexis Acosta hitting her 1st home run of the season in the 6th inning, a grand slam that ignited the Citrus bench and put the nail in the Cerritos coffin.

Citrus moves to .500 overall, a hefty feat, after a rocky start to the season. The Owls have fought their way out of the cellar and are now 12-12 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

The Owls take the field Tuesday against visiting LA Valley for a WSC East matchup. First pitch is at 2:30 PM.
