Citrus Accomplishes LA Mission
Citrus College struck first and took advantage of some costly errors in a 12-5 victory over LA Mission College.
The Owls improve to 13-12 overall and 5-4 in Western State Conference with their second-straight win. The Eagles drop to 14-7 on the year and 5-3 in conference action.
Several Owls had multi-hit games, led by Jasani Zavalza's 3-for-5 performance with two runs and two RBIs.
Citrus wasted little time and scored three runs in its first chance at the plate. With Leah Morales on base, Zavalza doubled to send her home before Samantha Meyndert joined her on base. An LA Mission error allowed Citrus to send both runners home to put the visitors up 3-0.
The Eagles responded with a run in the bottom half of the first and another in the third, but the Owls had another three-run inning in the fifth, sixth and seventh to all but put the game out of reach.
Citrus looks to keep momentum building as it heads to Cuesta College on Thursday for a 2:30 p.m. contest.
