Citrus College battled but couldn't send runners home in a 2-1 loss to the College of the Canyons Thursday afternoon.
The Owls slip to 16-14 on the year and 7-5 in Western State Conference action, while the No. 17-ranked Cougars improve to 17-9 overall and 8-3 in conference.
Leah Morales and Ericka Pineda each had two hits on the day, while Marissa Gallegos, Tatiana Figueroa, and Alexis Cordero also had a hit in the game.
Figueroa scored the lone run for the Owls in the bottom of the fourth after Cordero hit a hard infield single to send her home from third.
After playing four games in four days, Citrus gets a little break before ramping back up next week with five games in six days. The Owls first host Orange Coast College on Monday at 2:30 p.m. Later in the week, Citrus takes on Canyons for its final game of the series, with both teams holding one win.
