More than a month after play was halted in the middle of a game, Citrus College and Antelope Valley College settled unfinished business Tuesday afternoon. The Marauders took the first game 6-3 before following with a 3-2 win to grab the sweep over the Owls.
The Owls drop to 18-19 on the year and 8-9 in Western State Conference action. The Marauders improve to 24-12 overall and 13-3 in conference.
Citrus out-hit AVC 12-to-6 in the nightcap but just couldn't send runners home. Leah Morales and Samantha Meyndert led the Owls, each going 3-for-4. Jasani Zavalza and Paige Horvat each went 2-for-3, while Desiree Loza and Marissa Gallegos also had hits in the loss.
Meyndert struck out four batters in the circle for the Owls.
Citrus looks to close out the season solid with three games left to play in the regular season. The Owls head to Pasadena City College on Wednesday before returning home on Thursday for their final conference contest.
