Citrus College got its season underway Friday with two wins, beating Southwestern College 3-2 and grabbing a walk-off 5-4 win over El Camino College.

The Owls open the season with a 2-0 mark, while the Jaguars start 1-1 and the Warriors begin at 0-2.

Samantha Meyndert picked up the win in both games for Citrus, finishing with four strikeouts and allowed just one earned run.

In the first game, Southwestern scored first with two runs in the top of the first, but Citrus responded in the bottom half of the inning with three runs.

With two runners on, Mad Hajj knocked a base hit through a gap on the right side to score one before Meyndert doubled to send in the tying and go-ahead run.

The Owls locked down the Jaguars for the remainder of the game to secure the 3-2 victory and head into the nightcap with some momentum.

Against El Camino, Citrus struck first after Leah Morales scored in the top of the first, but the Warriors evened things up in the third before taking a 4-1 lead in the fifth.

The Owls battled back and scored three runs in the sixth. With two runners on and one out, Marissa Ramirez drilled a base hit to right center to send Desiree Loza home. Meyndert drove in another run before Kylie Ruiz hit a base hit up the middle to send in the tying run.

It came down to the eighth where Citrus loaded the bases with two outs. Ruiz kept a good eye at the plate and drew four balls to walk in the walk-off run.

Citrus heads to Long Beach City College on Tuesday for a 2:30 p.m. game.
