No. 19-ranked Citrus College wasted little time to get on the board and exploded for a 19-0 run-rule victory against Ventura College, marking the most runs the Owls have scored in a single game since 2017.

The Owls improve to 12-5 on the year, while the Pirates slip to 0-15 overall.

Eight Owls had hits in the game, with Samantha Meyndert leading the charge with an impressive 3-for-3 performance at the plate. She scored two runs and batted in another, while also drawing a walk.

Citrus jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead after the first two innings, scoring three runs in the first and another three in the second.

The Pirates held the Owls scoreless in the third before Citrus went off in the fourth, plating eight runs on crucial Ventura errors to put the mercy rule in play. It seemed the Owls were unstoppable and tacked on another five runs in the fifth to seal the 19-0 victory.

Caitlin Kelley picked up her fifth win of the year, allowing just two hits and striking out two batters.

Citrus resumes Western State Conference action on Tuesday, hosting LA Valley College at 2:30 p.m.
