Owls Walk-Off

Owls Walk-Off

Citrus College would bounce back on Thursday afternoon with a 6-5 victory over Antelope Valley College. The Owls improve to 14-7 on the year, while the Marauders drop to 12-12-1 overall.

The Owls would come out swinging in the bottom of the first to grab a two run lead after a Samantha Meyndert 2 RBI triple that would score Leah Morales and Madelyn Hajj

After a few scoreless innings the Owls would strike again in the bottom of the fourth. Meyndert would lead the inning off with a double followed by a Loza single. Ramirez would then step up to the plate with two runners on base and hit a huge three run home run giving the Owls a 5-0 lead.

The Marauders would answer in the 5th with three runs of their own and again in the 7th with two runs tying the game 5-5. With no outs in the top of the 7th, Caitlin Kelley would come into pitch at a critical moment and retire the side with back to back strikeouts giving the Owls momentum.

Leah Morales would continue her hot hitting with a lead off double. The Owls would be unable to advance her, until Loza stepped up to the plate with two outs. With runners on first and second, Loza would hit a routine pop-up to the pitcher, and with a little help from the Marauders and the hustle from the Owls baserunners a routine play turned into an error. Morales would cross home plate and the walk off celebration would ensue.

Meyndert finished the day 3-for-3 at the plate, while Morales was 2-for-4. The Owls return to action on Monday when they travel to College of the Desert in non-conference action. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
