Owls Run-Over Roadrunners

Owls Run-Over Roadrunners

Citrus College picked up its second straight win with a 13-6 victory over College of the Desert Friday afternoon. The Owls improve to 15-7 on the year, while the Roadrunners slip to 2-13 overall.

Seven different Owls would combine for the thirteen hits in the game with Leah Morales (3-for-5) including three stolen bases, Madelyn Hajj (3-for-5) and Rylee Praytor (2-for-5) with 3 RBI's leading the way. On the mound Caitlin Kelley would pick up the win throwing six innings with three strikeouts making her 8-2 on the year.

Citrus wasted no time in the top of the first claiming their first run. Morales would get her first hit of the day with a bunt before eventually stealing second base. A batter later Hajj would hit a triple scoring Morales giving the Owls a 1-0 lead. The Roadrunners would answer back with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 4-1 lead.

In the second, the Owls started to find their rhythm and delivered a four run inning of their own that included another Morales hit that scored a run, followed by a Praytor single that scored two more, and a Hajj single driving in another run giving the Owls their lead back.

With Kelley in the circle the Owls wouldn't look back and continued their offensive production scoring three more runs in the fourth, two in the sixth, and three in the seventh taking a decisive 13-6 road win over College of the Desert. The Owls return to action as they host Pasadena City College on Monday at 2:30 p.m.
