Citrus Closes Canyons in Five

Citrus College dominated in a 9-1 victory Thursday afternoon as they hosted College of the Canyons. The Owls improve to 17-8 overall and 3-2 in the Western State Conference with the win, while the Cougars drop to 11-13 on the year, 3-3 in conference. 

Madelyn Hajj would start things off for the Owls in her first plate appearance with a home run, giving the Owls a 1-0 lead. College of the Canyons would eventually answer in the top of the third inning, making the game 1-1. 

Citrus would rally in the bottom of the fourth with disciplined batters drawing walks and timely hits, giving Citrus a 7-1 lead. The Owls would add two more in the bottom of the fifth giving them a decisive run rule victory over the Cougars. 

Samantha Meyndert would pick up the win for the Owls, making her 7-5 on the year. 

Citrus will be back in action Tuesday April 2nd @ Glendale College.
