Women’s Basketball Opens Year With Win Over #11 Cypress

Pasadena, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Basketball team started off their 2012-2013 season in style when they defeated pre-season State #11 Cypress College on the first day of the Veterans Day Tournament hosted by Pasadena City College. The Owls did so in a big way, winning 67-54.
The Owls got contributions from nearly every corner of their roster on Friday afternoon. Sophomore Ella Rodriguez led the way with a team high 17 points, but freshmen Olivia Montgomery and Jaelyn Wilson added 13 and 12 respectively. Sophomore Nicole Zugasti rounded out the top scorers with 11 points.
With the win, Citrus improves to 1-0 on the year. The Owls won't get much time to enjoy the victory over the ranked team as they get back out on the floor tomorrow afternoon against Southwestern College. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM in Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium on the campus of Pasadena City College.
