Rancho Cucamonga, CA -- Freshman Olivia Montgomery came off the bench to score a game high 18 points and sophomore Ella Rodriguez nearly posted a triple-double as the Owls bounced back from their first loss of the 2012-2013 season. Citrus beat a talented Barstow College squad 62-48 in the consolation round of the 2012 Panther Pride Tournament.

Citrus got off to another fast start on Saturday, but unlike Friday the Owls maintained it. Citrus scored 17 of the first 21 points of the contest taking an early 17-4 lead after a jumper from sophomore Nicole Zugasti.

In the first half the Owls limited the Vikings to just 22.7% shooting from the floor and a total of 15 points. Meanwhile Citrus shot a promising 48.1% from the floor and took a 17 point 32-15 lead into the break.

In the second half Citrus built their lead up to as much as 21 points after a layup from freshman Jasmine Longtin made it 43-22 with just over 12 minutes to go. Barstow didn't fold though as they whittled away at the Owl lead getting it down to 11 with 3:29 to go in the game. Citrus responded down the stretch scoring 7 of the final 11 points of the contest securing the victory.

Along with Montgomery, Zugasti added 11 points. Freshman Natalie Lam added 9 points and 7 boards, while fellow frosh Jaelyn Wilson also supplied 9 points. Rodriguez rounded out the superlatives with 8 points, 8 assists, and a team high 10 rebounds.

With the win, Citrus improves to 4-1 on the year. The Owls will compete for the Consolation Championship tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM against Western State Conference South Division foe Glendale College.
