Owls Dominant in Win at Grossmont

El Cajon, CA -- After dropping their first back to back contests of the year last weekend, the Owls came back with a vengeance on Friday evening as they dominated host Grossmont College 65-31.Citrus shot 41.2% from the floor, while holding their opponents to just 22.2% shooting in the win.

The Owls opened up the game on a 9-2 run, as freshman Olivia Montgomery scored the first four points of the contest followed up by a three from sophomore Sarah Rebibo and a jumper from sophomore Nicole Zugasti

Grossmont would pull to within three at 10-13, but the Owls got five straight points from freshman Jaelyn Wilson that kick started a 19-4 run by Citrus to close the half. Rebibo would close out the half strong, scoring Citrus' final six points to put Citrus up 32-14 at the break.

The Owls kept their foot on the gas to open up the second half, as they scored 16 of the first 20 points in the period. Citrus' largest lead of the night would be 35 after sophomore Arianna Caffey hit a pair of free-throws to make it 65-30 with 15 seconds to go. 

Sophomore Ella Rodriguez led the way for Citrus with a game high 16 points in the contest. Wilson and Rebibo each added 11, while Zugasti had a game high 9 boards. 

With the win, Citrus improves to 8-3 on the year. The Owls will be back out on the hardwood late next week when they take part in the Ventura Crossover. Citrus opens the two day event by taking on Cypress on Thursday at 3:00 PM.
