El Cajon, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Basketball team came up with their biggest win to date on Saturday afternoon when they opened up the 26th Annual Grossmont College Holiday Tournament. The Owls shocked State #16 Mt. San Jacinto College 63-57. 

The Owls started out the game strong, scoring 11 of the contests first 16 points. Less than 10 minutes into the game, Citrus saw their first double digit lead when freshman. Tyvette White's jumper made it 15-5 with 10:46 left in the first half. 

Mt. San Jacinto would try to get back into the game, but the Owls remained steady early, getting a pair of big threes from sophomore Natalie Lam and freshman Jessica Samson to make it 24-9 with just over six minutes to go. The Eagles would get the lead back down to single digits under the two minute mark, but back to back baskets by sophomore Jaelyn Wilson and Lam made it 36-24 at the half.

In the second half, Mt. San Jacinto would make several runs at the Owls' lead most notably when they got it down to three at 44-47 with 9:17 on the clock. Citrus kept their cool and got to the free-throw line on consecutive possessions, where Wilson and White made four straight shots to put Citrus back up by seven. After that, the lead was never less than five. 

In the win, Citrus was paced by Lam's game high 20 points. Wilson added 14 and a game high 11 rebounds, while White ended up with 15. With the win, the Owls improve to 7-5 on the year, and move on to the semi-finals where they will take on Cypress College (9-6) at 5:00 PM at Grossmont College.
