Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Basketball team opened up their 2014 Western State Conference South Division on Wednesday evening at home against Santa Monica College. The Owls rolled against a banged up Corsairs squad 73-39.

Around the 14:58 mark though, the Owls finally found their groove as sophomore Jaelyn Wilson went on a tear to spark Citrus' offense Wilson scored nine straight points to start what ended up being a 13-0 for the Owls. Citrus continued from there and they never looked back. The Owls led by 18 at the break and had their largest lead of the night come towards the end of the game when they went up 39.

Sophomore Jaelyn Wilson scored a game high 27 points, reeled in a game high 12 rebounds, blocked five shots, and recorded three steals. Sophomore Taylor Jackson had 19 points to along with 12 assists, and eight rebounds. The 12 assists is the second most for an individual game in Citrus program history. Sophomores Jasmin Longtin and Natalie Lam along with freshman Jessica Samson all added eight points apiece. Longtin also threw in 10 rebounds.

With the win, Citrus improves to 10-5 on the year and 1-0 in conference play. The Owls will go on the road for their first conference road test this Saturday when they take on Glendale College at 3:00 PM.
