Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Basketball team dropped their second straight contest on Saturday afternoon. The Owls shot just 27.3% from the field and an uncharacteristic 58.3% from the free-throw line as they fell to Antelope Valley College 58-44.

Citrus got the game off to a good start, by jumping all over the visiting Marauders in the first six minutes. The Owls scored 14 of the first 16 points of the contest and were clicking all over the court. With 13:43 to go in the first half freshman Amanda Walker hit a pair of free-throws to make it 14-2 in favor of the Owls. Things went South after that. Citrus wouldn't score again until there was 3:18 left in the half and sophomore Jasmin Longtin hit a jumper that made it 16-20, as Antelope had taken the lead.

The Owls would close the gap in the second half and briefly take the lead on three separate occasions over a two minute period between the 14 minute mark and the 12 minute mark. Three straight three's by Antelope Valley shortly thereafter thwarted any comeback attempt by the Owls though as the Marauders controlled the contest for the final 10 minutes.

In the loss, Citrus was led by sophomore Olivia Montgomery's team high 10 points. Freshman Amanda Walker had her best game of the year, in her first start of the year, scoring nine points, grabbing six rebounds, and handing out a pair of assists.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 11-7 overall and 2-2 in WSC South play. The Owls will try and rally on Wednesday when they host conference favorite Los Angeles Valley College at 5:00 PM.
