Lancaster, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Basketball team showed some serious guts on Wednesday evening in an overtime win over host Antelope Valley College. The Owls led by five at the half, but were held field goal less for an eight minute stretch in the second half, before coming back for the big victory in the extra period.

With 8:26 to go in the game, Citrus continued to hold on to their lead when freshman Vanessa Garcia's jumper made it 49-45. That would be the last time Citrus would score until the closing seconds, as the Marauders turned a four point deficit into a three point lead.

Trailing by three, sophomore Taylor Jackson found Garcia for a three that she calmly drained to tie the game up at 52 all with 36 seconds to go. Antelope tried to come back down the floor and answer with their own three, but sophomore Olivia Montgomery blocked the shot, to preserve the tie and extend the game five more minutes.

In overtime, the momentum was firmly on Citrus' side. Freshman Jessica Samson scored the first points of the third period with a jumper that made it 54-52. Antelope would tie it up a minute later, but the Owls scored six straight to go up 60-54. The Marauders would get it to four with 30 seconds to go, but sophomore Jaelyn Wilson along with Jackson sank all four of their final free-throws to close out the game.

In the win, Citrus was led by Wilson's game high 16 points. Montgomery added 15, while Garcia chipped in with a season high 15. Jackson meanwhile had nine points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

The Owls have two final games left on their schedule beginning with Saturday's trip to State #8 LA Valley College. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM.
