Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Basketball program wrapped up their 2013-2014 campaign on Wednesday evening when they played host to West Los Angeles College. The Owls overcame a sloppy start and 21 total turnovers to finish their season on a high note with a 66-52 victory.

Citrus started off by scoring the game's first four points, but the Wildcats quickly turned the tables on the Owls. West LA answered back with a 12-0 run that put Citrus in a big hole. West LA would lead for the rest of the first half, putting the Owls down by as much 12 points with just over four minutes to go. Citrus finally got some momentum going in the closing minutes though as they scored 11 of the final 14 points of the half to go into the break trailing 30-26.

West LA would hold Citrus at bay for as long as they could in the second half. The Owls wouldn't tie the game up until freshman Vanessa Garcia hit a three pointer that knotted the game up at 42-42 with 11:58 to go. The Wildcats would go back up by two on their very next possession, but Garcia would hit another triple a few moments later to give the Owls their first lead since the opening minutes.

The two teams would trade the lead back and forth a few more times, until yet another three ball off the hands of Garcia put the Owls up for good, 52-51 with 6:50 left in the game. Citrus never trailed again, and the Owls closed out the game on a 17-1 run.

In the win, Citrus was led by sophomore Olivia Montgomery's team high 21 points. Sophomore Jaelyn Wilson finished the year with her 13th double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Freshman Jackeline Perez scored just three points, but played a season high 25 minutes and shut down West LA's and the game's leading scorer Brittni Jackson in the second half. After Jackson went for 15 in the first half, Perez and company limited her to just seven points in the second half.

With the win, Citrus improves to 16-10 on the year and 7-5 in WSC South play. The Owls will now await their post-season fate, which will be announced on Monday.
