El Cajon, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Basketball team headed South on late Friday afternoon and came up with their second win of their 2014-2015 campaign. The Owls outclassed their opponent on the glass, out rebounding Grossmont College 42-32 on their way to a 48-40 win.

The Owls jumped out to an early lead on Friday, getting scores from freshman Janae Chamois and sophomore Tyvette White to give Citrus a 5-2 advantage. Grossmont took the lead for themselves shortly thereafter and would hold onto it until a three ball by Chamois with 3:59 left in the first half, put Citrus back on top 23-21. The Griffins would briefly reclaim the lead with 1:11 to go, but a trey by sophomore Vanessa Garcia and a jumper by freshman Alexandria Cano gave Citrus a 30-28 lead at the break.

Citrus opened up the second half with three straight three balls by Garcia, Chamois, and another by Garcia to extend their lead to nine. The Griffins would trail the rest of the game, cutting their lead down to three with 7:19 to go. That would be the last bucket by Grossmont though the rest of the contest, as the Owls closed the game on a 5-0 run.

In the win, Citrus was led by Chamois who scored a game high 12 points. Sophomore Bobbie Johnson added seven and a game high 14 boards, five on the offensive glass.

With the win, Citrus improves to 2-2 on the year. The Owls will take a break from play until Friday December 5th when they open up the 2014 Panther Pride Tournament hosted by Chaffey College against Saddleback College at 5:00 PM in Rancho Cucamonga.
