Rancho Cucamonga, CA -- They say that revenge is a dish that is best served cold. If that adage were true then count the Citrus College Women's Basketball program as being ice cold, as they avenged an earlier loss to Southwestern College with a 57-50 victory over the Jaguars in the consolation semi-finals of the 2014 Panther Pride Tournament hosted by Chaffey College.

Southwestern opened the game on a 6-2 run, back to back three pointers from sophomore Vanessa Garcia with about 11 minutes left in the first half put the Owls on top for the first time 10-9. The Jaguars rallied back to briefly regain the lead, but another three point bomb by Garcia made it 14-12 with 8:56 to go. With 3:52 left in the first half, Southwestern took the lead back for a second time, with a triple of their own, but back to back three pointers from freshman Janae Chamois the last with 25 seconds left in the half, gave the Owls a 32-29 lead at the break.

Citrus would cling to their lead throughout the second half. The Jaguars would pull even at 42 with 9:14 to go, went on a mini 8-0 run bookended by jumpers from sophomore's Tyvette White and Bobbie Johnson that made it 50-42. From that point forward Southwestern never got closer than six.

In the win, Citrus was paced by Chamois' game high 20 points. Garcia finished with 11, while White added 10. Johnson rounded things up with nine points, eight boards, and four blocks.

With the win, Citrus improves to 3-3 on the year. The Owls will take on Mt. San Jacinto College in the Consolation Championship Game tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
