Rancho Cucamonga, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Basketball program finished out their weekend at the 2014 Panther Pride Tournament on Sunday afternoon. There was no consolation for the Owls, who lost to Mt. San Jacinto College 56-66 in the Consolation Championship contest.

Citrus found themselves in an early hole as Mt. San Jacinto opened the game on a 17-2 run. The Owls wouldn't get their first field goal of the game until sophomore Vanessa Garcia hit a triple at the top of the key with 10:27 left in the first half. The Owls would battle back to pull within seven after a pair of free-throws by freshman Janae Chamois made it 18-25, but the Eagles closed the half on a 9-4 run to take a 12 point lead into the break.

In the second half, Mt. San Jacinto continued to keep the Owls at arm's length, growing their lead to as much as 20 points with 8:34 to go. Only a three from sophomore Jackeline Perez with seconds left made it a ten point deficit at the end of the contest.

Despite the loss, Citrus did have a couple of positives. The Owls made their first 21 free-throws on the game, and finished shooting 89.3% from the charity stripe for the contest. Chamois led all Owl scorers with 13 points, while sophomore Tyvette White added 10. Chamois also had a team high five assists and five steals.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 3-4 on the year. The Owls will be back in action this weekend as they take part in the 2014 Moorpark Classic. Citrus takes on Santa Ana College in the first round, playing the Dons at 1:00 PM in Moorpark on Friday.
