Glendora, CA -- After slow start during their regular season and conference home opener on Saturday evening, the Citrus College Women's Basketball team caught fire coming out of the break. The Owls turned a seven deficit into a ten point lead in the blink of an eye, as they went on to defeat visiting Glendale College 54-45.

Citrus started the game like started the second half. The Owls scored six of the first eight points, getting baskets from freshman Alexandria Cano and sophomore Tyvette White to go along with a pair of free-throws from sophomore Bobbie Johnson. That's when Glendale flipped the script. The Vaqueros hit three straight threes to go on top 11-6, and take the lead for the remainder of the first half. Citrus would have opportunities pulling to within three with 2:50 left in the half, but Glendale scored the final four points of half to take a 29-22 lead into halftime.

The second half proved to be a much different story for the Owls. Freshman Janae Chamois got the Owls going with a lay-up a minute and a half in, followed by back to back jumpers in the paint by Cano. Glendale would break up the mini 6-0 run with one of two free-throws to go back up by two, but Citrus rattled off ten straight more points. Johnson laid it up and in to make it 30-30, while Chamois gave Citrus' it's first lead since the opening minutes after burying back to back treys. White closed out the run with a jumper with 10:06 to go, as the Owls went up by 10.

Glendale would make one last run, getting the Owl lead down to five with 2:11 to go, but Citrus closed it out at the charity stripe where they finished 6 of 6 down the stretch.

In the win, Citrus was led by Chamois' game high 19 points. Cano added 13 and seven points, while Johnson had eight points, and game highs in rebounds (10) and assists (4).

With the win, Citrus improves to 8-7 overall and 1-1 in WSC South play. The Owls will be back at home on Wednesday night when they host Bakersfield College (13-1, 2-0) at approximately 7:00 PM.
