Valley Glen, CA — After closing out their 2014-2015 non-conference schedule with a commanding 38 point win in the third place game of the Grossmont Tournament, the Citrus College Women's Basketball team could have never imagined that their WSC South slate would have gone thus far. The Owls' woes continued on Wednesday night when they lost to host LA Valley College 55-63.

Citrus stumbled right out of the gate falling into a 7-2 hole early on. The Owls were held to just 23.5% shooting in the first half and trailed by as much as 15 points with just over three minutes left in the first half. The Owls did close out the half scoring six of the final 10 points, but went into the break trailing 30-17.

The Owls turned things around in the second half, shooting a little better at a 38.5% clip, but more importantly forced LA Valley into seven turnovers compared to just three of their own. Citrus would crawl their way back into the game, getting their deficit down to just four points after back to back treys by sophomore Vanessa Garcia with just over two minutes to play made it 50-46. The Monarchs slammed the door on Citrus though, scoring 10 unanswered as they cruised to the 12 point win.

In the loss, Citrus was led by freshman Janae Chamois who scored a team high 15 points, and reeled in a team high eight rebounds, and dished out a team high five assists. Garcia finished with 12 points.

With the loss, the Owls fall to 8-10 overall and 1-4 in WSC South play. The Owls will try and bounce back on Saturday when they play host to West Los Angeles College at 5:00 PM.
