Glendora, CA -- After losing three straight games for the first time all season, the Citrus College Women's Basketball program came out in Saturday night's game against West Los Angeles with a seeming new sense of focus. The Owls looked like the team they had been earlier in the year and left no doubt about what the outcome would be right from the tip, in a 65-44 victory over the Wildcats.

West LA would win the tip on Saturday night, but after that it was all Citrus. The Owls first a Wildcat turnover on their very first possession and went on a 9-1 run to open the game, that saw freshman Janae Chamois hit a three, and then sophomore Vanessa Garcia back to back treys. West LA finally broke up the Owls scoring with a lay-up, but their euphoria wouldn't last at all, as Citrus answered with another Garcia three ball and an 11-2 run.

The Wildcats wouldn't let the Owls run away with things right away, as they pulled to within eight with 5:23 left in the first. Citrus simply wouldn't be stopped on the night though, as they closed out the half with eight unanswered to go into the break leading 31-15.

In the second half, Citrus picked right back up where they started as Chamois got the ball rolling with a jumper, only to be followed in the next possession by another Garcia three pointer. The Owls' lead swelled to as much as 21 points less than five minutes into the half after a jumper in the paint from freshman Bianca Ortiz, and the Owls never led by less than 15 the rest of the way.

In the win, the Owls were paced by Garcia, who had her first ever career double-double to go along with a career high in points, and matching a program record for 3-pointers made in a single game. Garcia hit six triples, pulled in 10 rebounds, and scored a game high 22 points. Oh and she recorded four steals for good measure.

With the win, Citrus improves to 9-10 overall and 2-4 in the WSC South. The Owls will try and keep the good times rolling this Wednesday when they host long time thorn in their side College of the Canyons (13-8, 3-3) at 7:00 PM.
