Women’s Basketball Comes Up Short in OT

Bakersfield, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Basketball team made the long trek up to Bakersfield College on Saturday afternoon, and gave the Renegades their best shot. The Owls overcame a seven point halftime deficit to force overtime, before falling to Bakersfield 67-54.

The Owls gave it their best effort on the weekend, holding the Renegades to just 20% shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. Unfortunately, Citrus turned over the ball 29 times, nine more than their opponents.

In the loss, freshman Janae Chamois led all scorers with a game high 23 points. Chamois also had seven rebounds and two assists. Sophomore Vanessa Garcia added 11 points, while freshman Kayla Brady led the way on the glass for Citrus with nine boards.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 10-13 on the season and 3-7 in WSC South play. The Owls will be back at home on Wednesday evening when they play host to a streaking Antelope Valley College who has won five straight. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
