Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Basketball team finished up their 2014-2015 regular season home schedule in disappointing fashion on Saturday evening. The Owls led for nearly the entirety of the game, but Citrus got outdone at the three point line, where visiting LA Valley went 10 of 13, in a 46-50 loss for the Owls.

Things got off on the right foot for the Owls as they opened the game by scoring the first eight points. LA Valley would rally with a 10-0 run, to briefly take the lead from Citrus, but the Owls answered with a little 4-0 spurt and would hang on to a tight lead for the next six minutes. The Monarchs would take a 15-14 lead after hitting one of those 10 threes with 2:35 to go in the first half, but Citrus got a three on their next possession by freshman Tiffany Villaruz that put the Owls back on top 17-15. Villaruz would hit a lay-up and freshman Janae Chamois would make two free-throws just before the buzzer as Citrus went into halftime up 21-15.

Citrus kept it going in the second half leading by as much as 15 after a lay-up by freshman Kayla Brady with 15:08 left in the game. That's when LA Valley began to chip away at the Owls lead. The Monarchs would do so, by hitting more threes and making their way to the free-throw line where they made eight trips in the final nine minutes of play.

Valley wouldn't even hit a field goal from inside the three point line until the 4:28 mark, and they only made two field goals inside the three all game. Despite all of that, Citrus continued to lead, and led by as much as three with 2:07 to go. The Owls missed their final three attempts from the field though, had a turnover, and gave up an offensive rebound late to the Monarchs that sealed their fate.

In the win, Citrus was led by Chamois' team high 12 points. Villaruz and sophomore Bobbie Johnson each added nine.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 11-14 overall and 4-8 in WSC South play. The Owls will be on the road for their final two games, starting with a 7:00 PM tilt at College of the Canyons on Wednesday.
