Santa Clarita, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Basketball program closed out it's 2014-2015 season on a sweep note Saturday evening. The Owls swept the season series with College of the Canyons for the first time in recent memory, with a 61-60 victory at Canyons.

The Owls opened things up on a strong note, scoring eight of the contest's first ten points, with all eight scores coming off the hot hand of freshman Janae Chamois. Citrus would lead by as much as 10 points a little less than midway through after a jumper from Tyvette White made it 19-9, but the Cougars weren't going to let Citrus off the hook that easy.

Canyons would rally tying the game up at 21-21 with just under seven minutes to play in the first half, but the Owls closed strong, using a 15-3 run to end the first half. Freshman Tiffany Villaruz would make a jumper that broke the 21-21 tie, while sophomore Vanessa Garcia hit the half's final field goal, hitting a triple that made it 36-24 at the break.

Citrus continued to keep Canyons at arm's length throughout the second half. The Owls would lead by as much as 12 points with 8:03 to go when freshman Gabriela Ixtepan's lay-up made it 50-38. Citrus would be held to just four points over the next five minutes though, as the Cougars slowly whittled away at the Owls' lead.

The Cougars would pull all the way to within a single point with 59 seconds left, trailing 54-55. On the very next possession though, freshman Kayla Brady quickly found her way into the lane, laying the ball up and in off the glass to make it 57-54 with 53 seconds to go. Canyons rallied right back with a lay-up of their own, but a pair of free-throws by sophomore Bobbie Johnson, a key defensive board by Villaruz, and two more free-throws by Chamois with eight seconds left sealed the win for Citrus.

In the win, Citrus was led by Chamois' team high 20 points. Johnson added 14 points and eight boards, while White had 10.

With the win, Citrus' season ends with a 12-15 overall record and 5-9 mark in WSC South play.
