Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Citrus College Women's Basketball team just couldn't get things right on Friday afternoon when they opened up the 2015 Panther Pride Invitational hosted by Chaffey College against Los Angeles Trade Tech College. In particular the Owls were pounded in the paint, getting outscored 46-26 inside, in a 72-61 defeat.

The Owls would score the first five points of the game via a triple from sophomore Janae Chamois and a jumper by freshman Marisol Chavez-Delgado. Trade Tech would go on to score the next 11 points though, putting Citrus in a hole they struggled to overcome.

After one, Trade Tech led the Owls 20-14. In the second quarter, Trade Tech would encounter their largest lead of the day going up 15, 34-19 with 4:32 left in the first half. The Owls would chop away at the lead, closing the half on a 13-2 run to pull within four at the break 32-36.

Citrus' best chance to take back control of the game would come in the third quarter, when a jumper by freshman Marisa Brown made it 44-43 with 4:40 left. That would be the last lead for the Owls, as the Beavers scored the next four and didn't look back. The Owls would do their best to keep it close in the fourth, but Citrus couldn't get much closer.

In the loss, Chamois led all scorers with 23 points, adding eight rebounds, and four assists. No other Owl finished in double figures, but Brown did reel in a game high 12 boards.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 3-3 overall. The Owls will move to the consolation semi-finals where they will face Barstow College on Saturday at 12:00 PM.
